Chongming Pearl Primary School

     Pearl Primary School was established in August, 2007 in the Chongming County. The school occupies an area of 29,000 square meters, with 8,184 square meters covered by plants. The construction area reaches 1,2457 square meters. Currently, the school staff contains 91 members, among which 95.2% have education level higher than vocational school, while 47.6% hold an undergraduate certificate. 2 teachers have senior professional title, 53 have intermediate professional title, and 32 hold preliminary professional title. 708 students are currently at school, among which rural workers’ children occupy 63.4%. The school has 24 teaching classes, all of which are of small size.
     The school holds the tenet that “Lay a foundation for students’ healthy growth, and lay the road for professional development of teachers”, and makes a goal with stratification. It proposed a blueprint of “Pursue for stability in one year; approach harmony in two years; require for effects in three years; reveal advantages in four years; exhibit specialties in five years; advocate brand in six years”, which will act as a standard for the recent six years.
     When it concerns about team building, the school advocates three kinds of spirits: honesty, unity and selfish giving of cadres; leadership, perseverance, and courage for surmounting of key staff members, as well as cooperation, candidness, and dedication of teachers. As for teaching, the school has been holding to the five processes of teaching as footholds and use the “Step on the baseline, shrink the gap and encourage the top students” as the management guideline, striving to make the best of conventional teaching. In order to hone the details of teaching work, the school always regards the principle that “Motivated by goals, transfer the core to lower parts, and use evaluations as the leader.” as its guidance, encouraging the teachers to make their work classic. As for moral education, the goal has been set at “Build a healthy personality and cultivate good habits” and the major line is “responsibility, gratitude and habit education.” A moral education ground of “Everyone is a moral educator, every place is a field for moral education, and everything is the working content of moral education.” is built, creating a grander working environment. Thus, moral education could enter every student’s heart. Meanwhile, the school has formed a group of special curricula, which mainly incorporate a textbook called “The Verve of Bamboos” compiled by teachers of the school. The curricula also contain sunshine sports items for students to go to the playground, the nature and go under the sunshine, which cover jogging of universality, basketball of tradition, as well as autonomic “Dance of Bamboo.” As for art education, the school has a band of traditional Chinese instruments, vocal music, dancing, art, calligraphy, painting, paper-cutting, bamboo paste and sculpture, as well as other art groups of special characteristics and art festivals such as “Let Your Heart Fly.” Through these activities, the culture life of the school has been enriched, which promote the psychological health of students and their aesthetic values. Students’ personality has been exhibited, and their capability of discovering beauty, displaying beauty, perceiving beauty and creating beauty was gradually cultivated.
     Ever since the three years after its establishment, the school has won the names of Shanghai Campus of Security, Civilization Work Unit of the County Level, Chongming Green School, Chongming Advanced Group of the Moral Education for the Juveniles, Advanced Work Unit of Family Education, School of Special Characteristics in Art Education, Advanced Work Unit of Integrated Management, and Advanced Work Unit of the Welfare of the Young. The school has won the first prize in the evaluation of the county’s education system, and has obtained the excellent award in education quality of the country level three years in a row. The education of art, sports, science, technology, hygiene, as well as explorative and expansive curricular have also satisfying results in all the competitions of county as well as the city level.
